General Manager – Somercotes Site
The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the performance of the Somercotes site, reporting directly to the Director of Operations EMEAA. This role holds a key leadership position in shaping site strategy, driving operational excellence, ensuring financial performance, and maintaining a strong reputation for quality and reliability in sterilization services. The role requires close collaboration with corporate functions, regional teams, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance, continuous improvement, and sustainable business success. The General Manager will actively promote a culture of quality, safety, innovation, and Lean thinking across the site.
Responsibilities
* Develop and execute business strategy to achieve turnover and profitability targets.
* Manage budgets and capital expenditure within approved limits.
* Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Promote a strong quality culture and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
* Lead EHS performance, ensuring a safe working environment and regulatory compliance.
* Ensure effective corrective and preventative action processes and quality performance metrics.
* Develop, coach, and lead the team, ensuring appropriate training and engagement.
* Ensure accurate financial reporting and collaboration with corporate functions.
* Promote Lean leadership and innovation across the site.
Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
* Strong management and financial background.
* Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or medical devices environments preferred.
* 5 to 8 plus years of leadership and people management experience.
* Strong strategic, communication, and organisational skills.
* Results‑driven, quality‑focused, and resilient.
* Experience with Lean / Operational Excellence is an advantage.
* Additional language skills are a plus.
