An opportunity for an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor has become available with a major civil engineering contractor delivering a £500M framework.
The current work is scheduled to run until 2030 and includes civil engineering capital projects in the water sector, ranging from £10M-£30M, administered under NEC conditions.
This is a newly created role due to a significant, recently awarded package of work. It offers the chance to join a world-class organization with renowned training and career development programs, fostering long-term career growth.
This is a hybrid role with two days per week on-site in Southampton.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop effective management and issuance of accurate, timely, and compliant notices and correspondence, ensuring contractual compliance.
2. Identify contractual and commercial risks and opportunities on the project.
3. Maintain registers of variations, delays, extension times, and claims; implement company's commercial policies and procedures.
4. Assist in preparing monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed; produce pre-contract tender negotiations and reports if necessary.
5. Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and contract budget reports.
6. Manage subcontracts from initial placement to final account.
7. Monitor and update procurement plans, analyze commercial comparisons for subcontract procurement.
8. Reconcile weekly plant, material, and labor against budget.
9. Monitor the main contract, including producing change reports and value change reports.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Experience in delivering large-scale projects, including civil, mechanical, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure work.
2. Adaptability to evolving digital reporting requirements in commercial management.
3. Proactive approach to new working methods, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
4. Leadership skills to develop team capabilities.
5. Confidence in stakeholder engagement across disciplines to establish comprehensive commercial understanding.
6. Ability to challenge project team views on scope and hold them accountable.
7. Full Membership or nearing completion of RICS / CIECS.
