Join Our Team as a Housing Disrepair Case Officer – Safeguard Homes, Protect Health, and Make a Lasting Impact
There’s never been a more important time to join Arun District Council’s Housing, Wellbeing & Communities team. As we continue to transform the way we deliver services, we’re looking for an experienced and driven Housing Disrepair Case Officer to play a key role in ensuring our homes are safe, healthy, and legally compliant.
This is a 1-year fixed-term contract, created specifically to tackle and reduce our current disrepair caseload, making a meaningful difference for both residents and the service.

As our Housing Disrepair Case Officer, you’ll lead on managing legal disrepair cases and complaints, from first inspection through to resolution. You’ll carry out detailed property surveys, prepare robust technical reports, liaise with legal teams, and oversee remedial works that improve living conditions and safeguard tenant health. You’ll be at the frontline of ensuring compliance with key legislation, including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.
This is a challenging but rewarding role where your expertise will help reduce legal risks, support vulnerable residents, and inform future investment decisions. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team of housing professionals, contractors, and legal advisors to resolve issues professionally, proactively, and efficiently.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong building pathology knowledge with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll need to be confident managing complex cases, balancing attention to detail with the ability to build relationships and maintain clear records. Experience with HHSRS, complaint resolution, and working in a local authority or social housing context is highly desirable.
