About the Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer you will take responsibility for delivering the design, analysis and management of engineering projects. The role will see you working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective outcomes. You will have the chance to balance hands-on design work with client liaison, project management and the mentoring of junior engineers, giving you broad exposure and room to progress.
The key requirements for this Geotechnical Engineer role are:
1. Deliver preliminary and detailed designs across a range of geotechnical projects
2. Produce technical drawings, specifications, reports and supporting documentation
3. Carry out analysis and ensure designs meet relevant standards
4. Contribute to tender and fee proposals
5. Collaborate with clients, contractors and wider project teams
6. Conduct site visits and inspections to verify compliance with design and safety requirements
7. Manage project timelines, budgets and communications
8. Provide technical input and guidance to junior and graduate engineers
Experience required for this Geotechnical Engineer role are:
9. BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE accredited course (2:1 or above)
10. Minimum of 2 years’ post-graduate experience, ideally with exposure to rail-based projects
11. Proficiency in design and analysis software with knowledge of relevant codes and standards
12. Strong written and verbal communication skills
13. Experience preparing technical reports and delivering accurate project documentation
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Geotechnical Engineer role are:
14. Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
15. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation
16. Sentinel Track Safety PTS certification
17. Full UK driving licence
18. Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver to tight deadlines
