Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Your empathy, consistency and determination will help create a safe and therapeutic environment where recovery becomes possible.
What you will be doing
* Build positive, therapeutic relationships with patients
* Support young people with their daily care and treatment plans
* Monitor wellbeing and record observations accurately
* Assist with documentation and care planning
* Support patients during times of emotional distress
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals
* Carry out delegated clinical duties under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge
* Engage fully with ongoing training and development
What we are looking for
* A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
* Emotional resilience and the ability to work in challenging situations
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A commitment to high‑quality, compassionate care
* Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided
* English and Maths GCSE or equivalent (essential)
* Psychology degree (desirable)
* Demonstrated experience working in healthcare or with young people (essential)
* Capacity to engage with young people in a person‑centred way (desirable)
