We operate a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (2 days & 2 nights then 4 off), 7-7.
Annual salary: £38,656.80 - £40,589, including shift allowance.
About the role
Biffa requires a Shift Production Manager who will have full responsibility for all aspects of the process during their shift. The Shift Production Manager leads the team in achieving excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performance, and utilisation. They will communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management.
Your core responsibilities
1. Ensure the health & safety of all employees on your shift, maintaining high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness of the plant and equipment.
2. Ensure workforce compliance with safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, manual handling assessments, and COSHH evaluations.
3. Promote and participate in near miss and hazard reporting, deliver Toolbox Talks, and conduct health and safety training to meet business KPIs.
4. Manage processing activities to ensure optimal performance of resources including personnel and machinery.
5. Establish and monitor operational KPIs, manage performance, and develop employees, while improving plant processes and efficiencies to deliver quality products.
6. Collaborate with fellow Production Managers to design and implement Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring processes meet performance measures such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness and availability to satisfy business and customer requirements.
Requirements
1. Proven experience working with clearly defined KPIs.
2. Strong man-management skills and ability to focus in a demanding environment.
3. Experience delivering continuous improvement in operational settings.
4. Understanding of working within time-critical process environments.
5. Experience in people and health & safety management in multi-shift, industrial/processing environments.
6. Proven ability to work towards service delivery KPIs.
7. Excellent communication skills, precise planning, and a collaborative attitude.
