Role outline Job title: Befriending Programme Development Manager Salary : £25,594.80 (0.6 FTE) - £34,126 (0.8 FTE) (prorated from £42,658 including £6,745 London living allowance) Band : 6 Contract : 12-18 months fixed-term contract Working hours : 21-28 hours/week (Requires working on occasional evenings and or Saturdays to see the current befriending model at play) Probationary period : 3 months Notice period : 2 months Location : All Souls Clubhouse; 75% WFH and 25% office based Annual leave : 25 days bank holidays (prorated) Visa sponsorship : Not available DBS check : Basic DBS About the role All Souls Serve the City (ASSTC) is a Westminster-based charity with a long history of befriending, that seeks to serve those in our area who are isolated, overlooked, and exploited, bringing the message and ministry of Jesus. The charity was formed to consolidate a number of ministries that developed from within All Souls Church, an international, diverse, mutli-generational, and vibrant congregation in central London with a heart to reach the city and the nations for Jesus. Visit our website for more information: asstc.org.uk Extract from Strategic Plan (2025) to set background and context We are leaders in Christian Befriending Our strategy is anchored by a pioneering ambition: to champion Christian Befriending in the heart of London, embodying a commitment to meaningful relationships in our communities. We aim to be leaders, cultivating authentic connections with those we serve. We uniformly apply a professionally developed framework with clear objectives to all ASSTC ministries. The Christian Befriending scheme includes a volunteer onboarding initiative to equip our volunteers with the requisite skills and compassion for meaningful engagement with those we serve. The goal is to tangibly impact the lives of our clients and create a framework for churches and Christian charities to emulate, enabling others to embrace the power of befriending within their specific endeavours. Strategic Priority 1: We are leaders in Christian Befriending Goal: Engage a consultant to advise on and co-create a Christian Befriending programme that cultivates authentic, supportive relationships consistently across ministries. Goal: Establish and implement a Befriending programme consistently across ministries. Goal: Establish and implement a Befriending programme training for volunteers consistently across ministries. Goal: Create training materials for churches and Christian charities to implement Christian Befriending programmes. Prioritised Goals Throughout the course of this Strategic Planning Project, the creation of a unified Christian Befriending scheme arose as a clear, unambiguous strategic priority towards which the other strategic goals point. To effectively realise this Strategic Priority, it is imperative for ASSTC to lay a robust foundation upon which to build. Role Details The Programme Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and all the Ministry Managers and Workers, as well as with volunteers and guests/clients we serve. Proposed Project Timeline: March / April 2026 - September 2027 Project research and development (6 months) Project implementation (6-9 months) Project partnering with other churches (9 months); this part of the project is optional so therefore we are not recruiting for this stage at the moment Proposed Project Governance We are proposing to replicate the governance from the preparation of the Strategic plan and have an active steering group with possible representation from All Souls ministry, clients, ASSTC Ministry Heads and an independent third party, possibly from a Theological College or a related area of expertise. Person Specification Education/experience Essential University graduate (under-graduate or masters) with experience in carrying out research and development of a practice strategy to be deployed with a related background for example Psychotherapy. A background in social work, a social action organisation or a third sector Able to demonstrate experience of working within an environment that requires monitoring and collection of data for KPIs Able to demonstrate experience of being a strong self-starter who is willing and able to take the initiative, and which includes planning and time management Highly desirable Experience in training course design and delivery Skills Essential Excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing), highly organised, keen attention to detail Safeguarding knowledge Strong project management and administration skills, preferably in the charity sector Highly desirable Able to apply a strategic lens to the role and shape it to fit into the wider ASSTC strategic vision Knowledge of, and experience in, safeguarding within the Diocese of London Personal qualities Essential A drive to deliver change within a diverse team environment Whole of life disciple wanting to know Christ more and grow in grace, obedience, and Christ-likeness Committed evangelical Christian in full sympathy with the vision, mission and values of All Souls Serve the City, All Souls Church and the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith Highly Desirable A personal interest and experience in befriending and discipling those who are new or young in the Christian faith Based in London or close travelling distance to the Clubhouse Befriending Programme Development Manager Job Description Application Closing date : Sunday, 8th March 2026 at 23:59 Interviews : Round 1 from 16th March 2026; Round 2 from 23rd March 2026 There is an occupational requirement that the job-holder is a Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
