Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.

Hatfield Health Centre consists of 5 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 1 Physician Associate, 2 Clinical Pharmacists, plus support from:
Physiotherapists
Community Mental Health Nurse
Management Team
Secretaries, Administrators and Receptionists.
Job responsibilities
Main Duties / Key Tasks:
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Provide carenavigation/signposting of patients.
Receive and make telephone calls as required.
Liaise with other clinical staff including district nurses, health visitors, etc.
To work in accordance with practice protocols.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow up appointments.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are followed.
Enter requestsfor appointments, tasks, general queries into clinical systems, ensuring to carefully record allrelevant details and referring to doctor where necessary.
Ensureefficient running of appointment system and monitor flow of patients intotreatment/consulting rooms.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent
Experience
* Caring nature and desire to help people.
* Good IT knowledge and skills.
* Experience in preferably in a patient setting or a reception role in an different sector.
* Excellent listening, written and interpersonal skills with both staff, patients and other healthcare professionals.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Willingness to learn new processes and systems
* Problem-solver and able to use initiative
* Experience of working as a receptionist in General Practice, NHS, Social Care or similar environment preferred.
* Experience of using SystmOne.
* Highly responsive and able to adapt to what is required.
* Thrives in a fast paced working organisation
