Overview
Play your part in shaping London’s future
The Mayor of London is looking to appoint up to two additional Members to the TfL Board to provide strategic guidance and stewardship to TfL, one of the world’s leading transport authorities. TfL’s Board plays a key role in London’s transport success, safety, affordability, sustainability, accessibility, inclusivity and reliability, with a sustainable financial footing to support London and transform the customer experience.
In 2025, TfL celebrated its 25th anniversary and continues to work to support jobs, homes, opportunities and economic growth across the capital. TfL currently delivers more than 21 million journeys every day and manages the Capital’s public transport network, including buses, London Underground, Elizabeth line, DLR, London Overground, London Trams, Cable Car and Santander Bikes, as well as the strategic road network, London River Services, Victoria Coach Station, congestion and emissions charging schemes, regulation of taxis and private hire vehicles, and, from early 2026, pedicab regulation. TfL employs around 28,000 colleagues and makes a real difference to millions daily.
Role and areas of focus
The Mayor appointed a new Board in September 2024 and further Members in 2025. TfL is seeking up to two additional Members to strengthen: safety and security and/or audit and risk and assurance (including experience of audit and assurance committees in a public sector environment). In addition, experience in colleague engagement and reward, including experience of remuneration committees, would be welcome. Applicants should ideally have knowledge and experience within a regulated or public sector environment, along with other desirable skills listed on the microsite.
You will have a proven understanding of the successes and financial challenges facing TfL, combined with a genuine interest and passion for London’s transport system and London’s future needs. London’s diversity is its biggest asset and Board Members should reflect that diversity.
