Abbots Care is an award-winning homecare provider based in Hertfordshire with a CQC rating of outstanding. At Abbots Care, we pride ourselves on enhancing the lives of individuals living we support. We cannot not accept overseas applicants. We are looking for live in carers to support our male client of 91 years old who has a spinal injury. Our client has required support from live in carers since his sustaining his spinal injury as a result of a fall over 10 years ago. Our client lives in Harpenden, a vibrant and successful Town in Hertfordshire, where he shares his home of many years with his wife and their cat Maisie. Since our client has his spinal injury, his home has been adapted for downstairs living, so whilst living in their home you will have access to your own kitchenette and bedroom in the upstairs of the house. He requires regular catheter care, daily bowel care as well as assistance with personal care and is dependent on help mobilising around the house when not using his electric wheelchair, using equipment such as a hoist. The ideal candidate will have some understanding of the needs he may require and be willing to learn and adapt to best suit his needs. Our client likes to keep up to date current affairs happening around the world, such as reading the daily newspaper, He is also currently writing his own book. You will need to provide a minimum of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off availability as you will be in rotation with another live in carer. You will also receive an undisturbed break of 2 hours per day. The salary starts at £900 per week which is inclusive of a weekly food allowance of £50.00. The support includes: Day to day living tasks including keeping the living space clean and tidy. Catheter care Daily Bowel care Attending art museum’s, local church activities and outings both in the local area and London. Meeting up with friends and family at social events Going on scenic walks in local areas and London. Experience of working within the care sector is essential with a real passion in supporting people with disabilities to live fulfilled lives. We provide an extensive training programme including the Care Certificate as well as complex care training tailored to your role. The ideal candidate must have a manual driving license and access to their own vehicle. The ideal candidate will need: Previous experience supporting individuals with a spinal injury. To be physically fit, calm, patient, friendly and caring To be able to work with clients that have household pets due to our client having a cat.
