Deaf Support Teaching Assistant – Gateshead
We are working with a specialist school in Gateshead that is seeking a full-time Deaf Support Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
This setting is dedicated to providing outstanding support for pupils with hearing impairments, helping them access learning, develop communication skills and participate fully in school life.
What you'll be doing
* Supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils throughout the school day
* Using British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and learning
* Supporting classroom activities and learning objectives
* Encouraging independence, confidence and social inclusion
* Working collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals
* Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress
What we're looking for
* BSL Level 2 or above, or equivalent experience
* Experience working with children or young people is desirable
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A patient, empathetic and understanding approach
* A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
