Overview
The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint a Head of Project Management to lead the delivery of a diverse and ambitious portfolio of capital projects across the University’s estate. The Head of Project Management within Estates and Campus Services will provide strategic leadership and high-quality client-focused project management across a wide range of capital projects. Acting as Deputy to the Assistant Director of Estates (Projects and Planning), you will lead the Projects Team in planning, implementing, and delivering a programme of projects valued up to £20m annually. These projects will vary in complexity and scale, including highly serviced infrastructure refurbishments, long-term maintenance programmes, and carbon and energy reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and client-focused project management across a portfolio of capital projects.
* Act as Deputy to the Assistant Director of Estates – Projects and Planning; lead the Projects Team in planning, implementing, and delivering projects.
* Manage internal and external resources, engage with senior stakeholders, and advise on feasibility, risk, and business case development.
* Line manage the Project Delivery team and drive continuous improvement for project delivery processes and frameworks.
* Deputise for the Assistant Director of Estates – Projects and Planning as required.
* Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle—from initial brief and feasibility through to procurement, delivery, and handover.
Qualifications
* Proven track record of managing complex capital projects in a client-side or consultancy role.
* Experience on a programme of schemes including projects of over £10m in value.
* Robust technical and commercial expertise in the construction and property sectors.
* Ability to coordinate internal teams and external consultants and contractors, ensuring alignment across project stages.
* Experience in leading feasibility, business case development, procurement, delivery, and handover.
