Operations Apprentice – Belfast
As an Operations Apprentice, you will develop towards becoming an International Freight Forwarder. Your main goal will be to manage or support our Customers’ logistics by arranging the movement of Freight via Air, Ocean, or Road. This includes Exporting and Importing Goods from and to the UK and around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop relationships with internal and external customers.
2. Respond promptly and professionally to all customer inquiries.
3. Adhere to Customs Compliance procedures and documentation requirements.
4. Ensure each ‘Job File’ is fully and accurately completed.
5. Work with Carriers and Handling Agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies.
6. Collaborate with DGF departments on freight planning and coordination.
7. Coordinate with DGF Transport & Warehouse teams and overseas offices.
8. Maintain mandatory KPIs using the Company’s Freight Forwarding system.
9. Create, manage, and track freight movements using Company systems.
10. Update the customer complaints system with all necessary information.
11. Ensure all interactions comply with DPDHL Code of Conduct and other compliance standards, including anti-corruption policies.
12. Contribute to the ‘First Choice’ continuous improvement program.
13. Participate in monthly team briefings and weekly performance meetings.
14. Complete all statutory and mandatory training as required.
Skills, Experience & Educational Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 GCSE passes, including English, Maths, and ICT (preferred).
What We Offer:
The apprenticeship lasts for 24 months on a Fixed Term Contract, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role, subject to vacancies and performance. We offer a competitive salary with incremental increases and benefits comparable to those of permanent employees.
Apprenticeship Qualification:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship at the end of the FTC, apprentices will earn the following qualification:
