We are seeking a caring, resilient and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join our school team. This role plays a vital part in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement with school life, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, families and staff to provide targeted pastoral support, promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing school environment.

Hours: Full-time
Contract: Temporary
Start Date: Monday 1st June 2026

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

* Provide emotional and pastoral support to pupils on a one‑to‑one and small group basis
* Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH)
* Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive relationships and self‑regulation
* Work with pupils who may be vulnerable or facing challenges at home or school
* Support children under social services involvement or on child protection plans where required
* Liaise with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to share observations and strategies
* Deliver wellbeing interventions to support confidence, resilience and emotional regulation
* Provide support during unstructured times such as break, lunch or before/after school
* Maintain accurate records in line with school policies and safeguarding procedures

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

* Experience working with children or young people in a school, care or support setting
* A calm, patient and empathetic approach
* Strong understanding of behaviour, emotional wellbeing and safeguarding
* The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
* Confidence in working collaboratively with staff and communicating with families
* A proactive and professional attitude
* Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care, Childcare, Psychology or similar (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
