About The Role
As Counselling Service Coordinator, you will lead and manage the delivery of high quality counselling services for the student community. You will ensure referrals receive timely, professional, and impactful support, while overseeing administrative tasks and providing in-person counselling where appropriate. You will also manage the broader operations of the service.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and manage the campus counselling service to ensure effective student support.
* Oversee and coordinate the caseload of the counselling team, providing guidance as needed.
* Assess student referrals from wellbeing teams and make informed decisions on support and risk management.
* Facilitate group counselling on topics such as exam anxiety when appropriate.
* Collaborate with Student Wellbeing, Academic Administration and Assessment teams on risk management, fitness to study protocols and crisis intervention.
* liaise with external agencies to create effective referral pathways for students requiring additional support.
* Implement policies and procedures that align with the University’s mental health and wellbeing strategies.
* Promote mental health awareness among staff and students and support staff development.
* Provide regular reports to senior management and ensure compliance with the BACP Code of Ethics and legal requirements.
* Ensure efficient use of technology and systems to improve access to counselling resources for students and staff.
What You’ll Bring
* A counselling or psychotherapy qualification at degree level (or equivalent).
* Substantial experience in providing counselling services in a higher education setting.
* Accreditation with BACP and thorough knowledge of the BACP Code of Ethics.
* Experience coordinating a service or leading a team in a similar environment.
* Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
* Confident and resilient practitioner capable of informed decision-making based on risk assessments.
* Strong administrative, IT and record-keeping skills, with experience in data collection, reporting and analysis.
* Ability to handle a high volume, emotionally sensitive workload with professionalism.
