CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER Up to £62,500 per annum dependent upon experience, plus 18% bonus scheme and company car. Hybrid role with both office and home-working plus regular travel to our 6 villages across the UK and Ireland. The role of Corporate Sustainability Manager is essential to ensuring we uphold our core values and continue to operate as a progressive, compliant, sustainable and socially responsible business. Working for the Director of Sustainability this role is responsible for the tactical implementation of our strategy, requiring you to engage key stakeholders within and outside our business to align all the elements and enable our organisation to achieve its ESG environmental targets. This ensures we continue to meet the expectations of our guests, colleagues, owners, and external stakeholders in terms of our environmental responsibilities. This role is in equal measures aspirational, commercial and technical. Key to ensuring our success is clear and confident advocacy for our sustainability targets, and careful measurement and monitoring of progress towards achieving them. This will include engagement across all levels of our organisation, and the provision of specific validated information to help our business manage environmental impacts and aspects, as well as legislative compliance. The Corporate Sustainability Manager will work with and alongside internal and external key stakeholders in delivering our vision; enthusiastically and collaboratively supporting and engaging others in achieving our identified key objectives. Equally important is our commitment to re-certification of our ISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) accreditation, through which we manage our environmental programs in a comprehensive, systematic, planned and documented manner. These measures enable us to create synergy between our environment, buildings, guest and colleague satisfaction and wellbeing, along with high-efficiency use of all natural resources. There is plenty of scope for the post-holder to use their specialist environmental knowledge within sustainability to support strategic thinking on the direction of travel towards net zero and the achievement of our targets, bringing forwards opportunities to develop strategy, policy, and action plans in line with evolving legal requirements and stakeholder expectations around ESG. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and numerical skills and be able to comprehend and analyse detailed data. Experience of developing and implementing carbon / sustainable development plans and strategies is essential. HOURS OF WORK You will be contracted to work 150 hours per 4-week period (37.5 hours per week). Normal working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. However, dynamic working is available whereby the earliest start time is 7am and the latest finish time is 7pm. Please note, this role will be hybrid with a mixture of office-based and home-working. Regular travel to our village locations in the UK and Ireland will also be required, along with overnight stays. ABOUT YOU Essential requirements: Educated to Degree level ideally in environmental sciences or management, environmental engineering or sustainability and environmental management. Good knowledge of current and emerging environmental legislation and regulations as these apply to operational and reporting requirements for UK and EU organisations. Highly experienced within a commercial or public sector organisation working in the field of energy, resource use, sustainability, and carbon reduction. Experience and a practical knowledge of how to implement change that results in reduced emissions, use of natural resources and improved sustainability. Experience of developing and implementing carbon/sustainable development plans and strategies. Experience of coordinating and maintaining an environmental management system within an organisation (e.g., ISO14001). Collaborative team member. Focused, determined and resilient in achieving results. Ability to work strategically and pragmatically to target efforts where they can have most impact and value. Able to comprehend, analyse and present detailed data to drive change with a range of non-specialist audiences. Desirable requirements: Ideally a member of an appropriate professional institute such as CIEEM or IEMA. Educated to Masters level, or equivalent professional qualification, in a relevant area. Good technical knowledge and practical understanding of environmental sustainability relating to design, construction and operational management of large scale residential, commercial leisure and hospitality facilities.
