We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant to serve your local community and join the Ambulance Service as part of our Ambulance crews based in Redhill. An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a rewarding role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives a little easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a sense of achievement.
Your main responsibility will be transporting service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This is a full-time role working 4 days out of 7 (10 hour shifts) with shifts scheduled between 05:30am and 00:30am. Shifts will be on a rota. Please only apply if you can work these hours.
Responsibilities
* Transport service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
* Assist in the transportation of end-of-life service users with empathy.
* Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Be responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Assist with handing over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
Qualifications
* Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.
* Be able to work flexible shifts. Operational hours are between 05:30am and 00:30am, Monday to Sunday, so you will need to work various shifts within these hours (with notice).
* Be an effective communicator with experience communicating in emotionally challenging circumstances.
* Be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
