Purpose: This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Family Paralegal/FCILEX/newly qualified solicitor to join our busy Family department. The role will involve assisting the Divorce and Finance team in both privately funded and publically funded cases involving divorce and separation, finances, private law children and domestic abuse cases. You will be required to attend court hearings in Bristol and elsewhere, and conduct your own advocacy. Duties/Responsibilities: Running a caseload of divorce and finance/private law children/domestic abuse files with supervision Attending court and undertaking own advocacy Attending client meetings Dealing with legal aid and privately cases funded cases Drafting File maintenance to Legal Aid Audit standards Effective use of our internal case management system Communicating with clients, expert witnesses and solicitors Business development Contributing towards the department’s financial targets Any additional duties as required Skills/Competencies required: Essential Experience of family legal aid and CCMS Experience of divorce and finance cases Experience of working in a family law department Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good organisational skills and pro-active approach To be able to prioritise work and pay strict attention to detail Ability to use own initiative and work to strict deadlines Strong computer skills Numerate and comfortable with figures Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team Desirable Resolution Accredited Specialist Advocacy experience in family cases Education Newly qualified solicitor, FCILEX or experienced senior paralegal
