Job responsibilities Job description JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT / PHLEBOTOMIST REPORTS TO: Practice Nurse Lead HOURS: 30 hours per week (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday) - Job Summary: Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The HCA will maintain accurate and up to date patient records Duties and Responsibilities include: ECG recording INR reviews (warfarin monitoring) Blood Tests Urine tests Ear irrigation Blood Pressure Checks Diabetic foot checks Pre Diabetes consultations 24 hour BP Monitor Fit NHS Health Checks Dressings Suture Removal Assist with coil fits Assist with minor surgery (ocassionally) Chaperoning duties Ordering medical supplies / dressing supplies /medications for drug cupboard Ordering Immunisations (Child/ Adult/ Travel) / stock rotation / maintaining cold chain Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations Notifying the GP/Practice Nurse of any significant patient issues Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment QC Checks on medical devices ( coagucheck / cardiocheck machines) Administration of the following injections/vaccines B12 Pneumococcal Shingles Seasonal Flu injections and intranasal Small section re IPC Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
