Overview

As Cook / Catering Supervisor, you have responsibility for the receipt of goods and produce, checking for quality of goods, temperature, and correct quantity as per order to suppliers, and the storage of such goods in the appropriate area within the time limits set out in the department policy on HACCP. You must be able to demonstrate working knowledge and compliance with the department policy on HACCP. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare food for patients and/or staff using both cook/chill products and fresh produce, and to check temperature levels and be aware of the Food Temperature Regulations. You will be responsible for supervising the small team whilst on duty. You must demonstrate a level of computer literacy sufficient to use the online rostering and ordering systems in place. The provision of a high quality, efficient, complete catering service for customers, patients and visitors in compliance with the Trust Patient Confidentiality Policy. To provide a high quality catering service for patients, staff and visitors trust-wide.


Responsibilities

* Receive goods and produce, check quality, temperature and quantity against orders, and store correctly within HACCP timelines.
* Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with department policy on HACCP.
* Prepare food for patients and/or staff using cook/chill products and fresh produce; monitor temperatures and food safety regulations.
* Supervise the small team on duty.
* Utilise online rostering and ordering systems with adequate computer literacy.
* Provide a high quality catering service for patients, staff and visitors while complying with the Trust confidentiality policy.
* Maintain cleanliness of own workstation and follow a clean-as-you-go policy to the required standard.
* Demonstrate awareness of the Food Safety Act and work to the highest standards in quality and hygiene.
* Comply with mandatory training requirements for Hygiene, Fire, Manual Handling and other training deemed necessary for efficient catering services.


Qualifications / Requirements

* Awareness of Food Safety Act and ability to work to high standards in quality and hygiene.
* Ability to prepare food for patients and staff using cook/chill products and fresh produce; ability to check temperatures and follow Food Temperature Regulations.
* Computer literacy sufficient to use online rostering and ordering systems.
* Experience in supervising a small team.
* Commitment to high quality catering service and adherence to confidentiality policies.


Employment Details

* The successful applicant will be an employee of the subsidiary and not Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

* NHFM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, established in 2012, providing facilities services to a wide network of sites.
* Shift pattern: 5 x 7.5 hr shifts between Monday and Sunday, with a choice of 7am-3pm or 10am-6pm. Enhanced rates apply for weekend and bank holiday hours. Other hours and staff bank recruitment may be available.
