Clinical Nurse Specialist - Integrated Contraception & Sexual Health Services (iCaSH) – Bedfordshire
Hours: 30 hours • Permanent • Based at Kings Brook, 5 St John's Street, Bedford MK42 0AH and Grove View Integrated Health Care Hub, Court Drive, Dunstable LU5 4JD. Closing date stated: 19 October 2025. Travel across the county to clinics in Dunstable and Bedford is expected. Saturdays 9:00–13:00 on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job
To assess the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of patients attending iCaSH services; to work within iCaSH offering advice and treatments/procedures for SRH patients; to demonstrate courteous, dignified, and sensitive care with respect for privacy.
To support training and education for professionals, students and other agencies; to work as part of the iCaSH team with a willingness to undertake further SRH training to support service development.
To independently assess, plan, treat and evaluate complex programmes of care using Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or non-medical prescribing (NMP) where qualified; to practice as a prescriber if a non-medical prescribing qualification is held.
To communicate clearly with patients about clinical, testing and treatment processes; to perform SRH examinations and procedures as clinically indicated; to interpret test results, provide advice, treatment, signposting and follow-up as required.
To ensure patients understand the importance of medical treatment and follow-up; to provide partner notification to support testing and treatment of partners per local and national guidance; to record data for audit and planning.
To deliver results management in line with local guidance; to perform phlebotomy as required; to administer vaccines and injections when clinically appropriate.
To assess patients and provide appropriate contraceptive advice and method choice in a timely manner, including Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) services, pre-assessment consultations, and timely fitting/removal where trained.
To support patients in identifying and reducing sexual risk taking; to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment for questions and concerns, with appropriate signposting and/or referral.
To record interventions accurately in patient records in line with local and national guidance; to be competent in the management of young people and vulnerable adults, working within Fraser Guidelines and mental capacity legislation, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team and safeguarding services as appropriate.

Qualifications
* Current NMC registration
* LoC IUT or willingness to undertake
* Non Medical Prescribing
Experience
* Recent experience in sexual health (Contraception, GUM or equivalent)
* Competent in supplying treatments by Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
* Able to work autonomously
* Cervical Cytology Sample Taker
Skills
* Phlebotomy competence or willingness to undertake training
* Specialist clinical knowledge in sexual health or related fields
