Salary: £3,700 per annum
Working Arrangements: Hybrid working arrangements. Regular attendance at meetings and ambassadorial events in Barnsley.
Hours of Work: Up to 30-days’ time commitment each year
Status of Employment: Temporary - 3-year term, with the potential to extend by another 3 years

We are seeking an Independent Board Member to take on the role of Asset Management Champion. This position includes membership of our Audit and Risk Committee, where you’ll help provide effective oversight and challenge across our risk and assurance frameworks.
In this role, you will:
* Oversee and set the long-term strategic direction for Berneslai Homes
* As the ‘subject expert’ offer strategic insight and scrutiny on asset management and building safety.
* Promote the values of Berneslai Homes and our Strategic Plan, which places tenants at the heart of everything we do.
* Contribute to our mission of delivering housing services that makes a real difference to people’s lives.
We welcome applications from individuals with repairs delivery experience and sector knowledge in local authority or housing organisations. You should already be operating at a strategic and senior leadership level, with a strong understanding of governance and compliance.
To strengthen the diversity of our Board, we particularly encourage applications from female candidates and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, helping us better reflect the communities we serve.
The successful candidate will commence their three-year term of office in January 2026.
