Overview
Healthcare Support Workers are responsible for assisting in the delivery of nursing services to the prison population. Supported by registered nursing staff, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focussing on supporting patients to be healthy; monitoring of long-term conditions, health promotion and screening and responding to emergencies. They will work collaboratively with the Healthcare Team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of Local and national Policies and Procedures. Responsibilities
* Assist in the delivery of nursing services to prisoners, under the supervision of registered nursing staff.
* Support patients to be healthy by monitoring long-term conditions, promoting health, screening and responding to emergencies.
* Work collaboratively with the Healthcare Team to meet patient needs and support delivery of Local and national Policies and Procedures.
* Follow social care plans as assessed by Local Authority or as identified by emergency care plans for new prisoners without an established social care plan.
* Engage with prisoners who require social care needs and contribute to the quality of services provided.
* Provide care in a high-security prison environment (HMP Woodhill) as part of CNWL’s healthcare services (Primary Care, Mental Health and Addictions) to approximately 500 adult male prisoners.
* Support a 7-day week working model to ensure continuous management and maintenance of patient healthcare standards.
Qualifications and Experience
* Enthusiastic and experienced healthcare support workers to join a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality care.
* Ability to work in a challenging environment with prisoners and to contribute to patient-centred, safe and effective care.
* The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.
