Job Title: Specialist Inspector Marine Engineer

Role Overview:
The client Energy Division regulates the UKs offshore oil, gas, and renewable sectors. This role involves assessing safety cases, inspecting offshore installations, investigating incidents, and providing expert advice on marine systems and offshore safety. The position requires both office-based work and offshore travel (typically 14 days, 8 times per year, with occasional short-notice visits).
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and assess marine integrity on floating offshore installations (FPSOs, FSUs, Jack-ups, Semi-submersibles) and support vessels.
Evaluate hull structure, stability, ballast, mooring, dynamic positioning, cargo, and offloading systems.
Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and provide expert reports for legal proceedings.
Engage with industry stakeholders and professional bodies to improve offshore safety standards.
Support and undertake ongoing professional development and specialist training.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified marine engineer (STCW Chief Engineer unlimited) or degree in Marine Engineering with relevant experience.
Chartered Engineer (IMarEST or RINA) or eligible for chartered status.
Extensive knowledge of offshore installation design, operation, marine systems, stability, and safety standards (IMO, ISO, API, Classification Societies).
Experience with risk management and enforcement of safety standards.
Self-motivated, independent, and flexible with willingness to travel offshore.
Full UK driving licence and ability to meet offshore medical and survival training standards (BOSIET/MIST).
