Overview
1650 Coffee Co is a new, design-led café launching in the heart of Reading's prestigious Station Hill development. We blend heritage with modern luxury, crafting exceptional coffee experiences in a space that celebrates quality, storytelling, and community. As we prepare to open our doors, we're looking for a passionate and charismatic Coffee Shop Manager to lead from the front — someone who wants to shape something extraordinary from day one.
What You'll Do
As our Manager, you'll be the heartbeat of daily operations, ensuring every detail reflects our premium ethos. You'll:
* Lead and inspire a small team of baristas with energy and professionalism
* Manage rotas, staffing, training, and team wellbeing
* Oversee stock levels, supplier deliveries, and inventory control Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health standards
* Prepare and serve all hot and cold beverages to the highest standard
* Showcase barista skills, including latte art and specialty brewing techniques
* Serve pastries, sandwiches, and light bites with care and presentation
* Deliver an exceptional customer experience — warm, welcoming, and personal
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation across the café
* Be a visible presence in the café, engaging with guests and building relationships.
* Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to maintain a high level of service
* Support your teammates and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment
* Collaborate with ownership on brand storytelling and operational excellence
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in a supervisory role with Minimum 2 years' experience in café or hospitality management.
* Strong barista skills, including latte art and specialty coffee knowledge
* A natural leader with excellent communication and organisational skills
* Outgoing, sociable, and genuinely passionate about people and coffee
* Confident managing stock, suppliers, and day-to-day logistics
* A proactive mindset with high attention to detail and presentation
* Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, premium environment
* Flexible availability, including weekends
