Overview of Paralegal role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Paralegal to join our Residential Property team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role offers the opportunity to support fee earners across a wide range of conveyancing matters while gaining valuable hands-on experience in Residential Property Law. The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of the buying and selling process, including preparing contract packs,reviewing legal documentation, carrying out property searches, liaising with clients and agents, and supporting with compliance requirements.
Paralegal Key Responsibilities:
Document Management: Prepare, draft and proofread legal documents, including contracts, transfer deed, office copies, leases, protocol forms and completion statements. Typing letters and drafting documents through digital dictation or as instructed by the fee earner. Assist with submitting applications to the Land Registry as well as downloading relevant documents from the Land Registry portal. Assist with the lender panels, mortgage offers and source of funds/wealth under instruction by the fee earner. Assist with billing, stamp duty land tax returns and all post completion matters.
Client Liaison: Preparing and drafting legal documents, including contracts and transfer deeds. Send out quotes to clients, assist with file opening and onboarding as well as all compliance matters including AML searches and CDD.
Case File Management: Maintain and organise case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible. Ensuring that all letters, emails and documents and post are saved on the relevant file on the case management system.
Legal Research: Assist in basic legal research related to property laws, regulations, and precedents to support the legal team.
Monies: Assist with transferring funds and making payments via the accounts department to send money out, record money in and note disbursements on client ledgers.
Previous Experience Required as a Paralegal:
Prior experience as a Paralegal or in a similar administrative role within a property department.
Strong knowledge of conveyancing processes and property law documentation.
Experience using case management systems and digital dictation.
Familiarity with compliance requirements, including AML checks and client due diligence.
Excellent organisational and communication skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
General Administrative Support: Handle day-to-day administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, handling correspondence, and taking messages. Open and allocate the incoming post, take the outgoing post to the post office as well as pay in any cheques at the bank in accordance with the rota.
