CHP Overhaul Engineer – Runcorn

We’re currently seeking an experienced CHP Overhaul Engineer to join our Runcorn-based team. This role will primarily involve major overhauls, engine rebuilds, strip-downs, and reassembly of CHP systems—ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and maximum uptime for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out full mechanical overhauls and rebuilds on CHP gas engines (including MTU, MAN, MWM, Jenbacher, and Liebherr units).
Perform major inspections and strip-downs in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Identify and replace worn or damaged components including pistons, liners, heads, and turbochargers.
Support fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of complex mechanical issues.
Work alongside planning and engineering teams to prepare for overhaul projects.
Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standard.
Maintain accurate service reports and documentation.
Travel to sites when required, including short-term stays for extended overhaul projects.Requirements
Proven experience in CHP engine overhauls or major servicing within the power generation or heavy-engineering sector.
Mechanical or multi-skilled engineering background with relevant qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Manufacturer-specific training or strong experience with MTU, MWM, MAN, or Jenbacher engines preferred.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems including engine internals, fuel systems, cooling, and exhaust systems.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Ability to travel to client sites and work independently or as part of a team.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Commitment to high safety standards and working under permit systems.Benefits
