Role Overview
Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist – combined service, based primarily at Dr Gray’s Hospital (Elgin) with contribution to acute Obstetrics at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.
The role is part of a team of 26 consultants within NHS Grampian, delivering comprehensive maternity and gynaecology services, including mid‑wifery‑led intrapartum care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consultant‑led obstetric and gynaecology care across the district general and maternity hospital sites.
* Contribute to the development of a new model of consultant‑led obstetric services, as part of NHS Grampian’s £6.6 million funding programme.
* Lead or support clinical, academic and service improvement projects, and develop sub‑specialty interests within NHS Grampian and North of Scotland networks.
Qualifications
* UK higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of interview.
* CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration awarded before substantive appointment; or International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC with confirmed GMC Specialist Register entry.
* Full GMC licence to practise in place prior to starting the post.
Locum Option
Doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a locum Consultant post up to 12 months while pursuing CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration.
