B2 Clinical Support Worker / B3 HCA – Umbrella Sexual Health Services
The closing date is 03 June 2026
Under new leadership from Strategic Modern Matron, our Sexual Health service is being refocused and transformed with genuine investment from the Deputy Director of Nursing for Solihull and Community and the entire Executive leadership team. This isn’t just talk – it’s a recognition that this vital community service matters, and we’re building something better.
We need Healthcare Assistants who understand what that means and want to be part of it.
You’ll work across eight locations in Birmingham and Solihull, including our City Centre hub on Whittle Street.
The environment sits between outpatients and ED – fast‑paced, high‑demand, with services that cover the full spectrum of sexual health and over 250 patients attending daily.
You’ll be trained across all our services to best support the people who rely on us. Rotas are produced in advance; flexibility matters, and you may be asked to travel between clinics during your shift to support colleagues where demand is highest. Training and development are delivered from our City Centre hub, so your willingness to adapt, learn, and move where you’re needed is essential to both your development and our service delivery.
We strive to offer flexible working arrangements for our staff, but the needs of our patients across all sites determine how our service operates. This role requires full‑time commitment (37.5 hours per week) with Saturday working one in four weeks as part of the rotation.
Main duties of the job
You’ll be clinic‑based, working with people at some of their most vulnerable moments. The nature of sexual health services means maintaining patient dignity and privacy during intimate examinations and procedures, and supporting people through consultations that may be difficult or distressing for them. Your day‑to‑day work includes undertaking personal care, patient observations, specimen collection, and clinical procedures under supervision – all requiring technical competence and the ability to put patients at ease when they’re most vulnerable.
This is care that matters to the communities we serve. If you’re motivated by what you have read and can bring the flexibility and commitment these patients deserve, we want to hear from you. Our values – Kind, Connected, and Bold – and our behaviours framework guide how we work with patients and with each other. If that resonates with you, apply.
The successful candidate will be upgraded to Band 3 Healthcare Assistant after successful completion of training.
