Overview
We are seeking an experienced senior Warehouse & Distribution Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our logistics and warehouse facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive warehouse management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of inventory control, process improvement, and logistics. This role is vital in ensuring efficient warehouse distribution, maintaining safety standards, and optimising materials handling processes. The Supervisor will lead a team of warehouse staff, coordinate shipping and receiving activities, and utilise warehouse management systems to meet organisational goals. The Supervisor will be expected to work closely with the department managers to support the Charity's mission.
Duties
*
1. Take responsibility for the effective management of the whole warehouse function including stock management, order processing, picking/packing and despatch within service level time frames

1. Secure most effective and cost-efficient, without compromising quality, despatch services for all deliveries - this includes reviewing despatch services on a regular basis to ensure effective cost management
*
1. Establish and maintain effective relationship with courier and delivery personnel to ensure customer focussed, high quality service
*
1. Continually source appropriate cost-effective, best value, eco-friendly packaging for despatch of all orders. Review packaging services regularly and at least on annual basis to ensure effective cost management
*
1. Responsibility for the warehouse management system: efficient and accurate stock control including responsibility for quarterly and year-end stock control activities - including working with auditor
*
1. Management for goods-in as and when required - including use of forklift truck and pallet movement equipment. Ensure effective use of space and planning for future capacity.

1. Responsible for ordering stock, liaising with distribution partners including overseas publishers for stock purchases and international shipping
*
1. Managing and overseeing the regular despatch of Sunday service sheets and other regular publications within service level timeframes. This is a critical aspect of our relationship with our customers.

1. Provide a regular monthly report for management to highlight despatch volumes, goods in, cost of operations, workflow updates etc
*
1. Line management for Warehouse & Distribution team – includes performance management and identifying and providing training and development needs
*
1. Responsibility for Health & Safety and Risk Assessment Management within the warehouse including managing health and safety requirements to safeguard others
*
1. Take responsibility to work as part of team as required for opening/closing site – includes setting and disarming alarm system
*
1. Work closely with the Customer Experience team to ensure RP provides a high-quality end to end service to fulfil all orders e.g. advise on shipment and stock updates (expected delivery, out of print, stock on order, titles unavailable) etc

1. Work closely with the Warehouse Administrator (based within the Finance team) to ensure stock purchasing and invoicing is fully processed

1. Is accountable for the warehouse function and to ensure it runs efficiently, smoothly and prioritises workload to the commercial benefit of the Charity.
Qualifications
* At least 5 years experience in warehouse supervision or management within a distribution or logistics environment
* Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse distribution, and materials handling processes
* Experience of working with parcel and mailing delivery services.
* Experience operating forklifts and mechanical equipment; relevant certifications preferred
* Demonstrated ability in process improvement initiatives within a warehouse setting
* Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively
* Undertaking quarterly and year end stock control processes and reporting using online systems.
* Experience of preparing management reports (analysing data and making recommendations)
* Health & Safety and Risk Assessment management within a warehouse context
