About the Role
We have a brand‑new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant to join our team based in the Birmingham Office. This role is part of our broader Sustainability Group, present in every Hoare Lea office, and delivers sustainable design, construction and operating services across all sectors.
Responsibilities
* Support development of energy strategies with clients to lead sustainability innovation on a series of developments.
* Undertake modelling and analysis, including but not limited to building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, overheating, embodied carbon of materials and circular economy opportunities.
* Assist in the delivery of environmental assessments (e.g., BREEAM, WELL, HQM) from early design stages through to completion.
* Contribute to the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies.
* Support the training of graduate team members.
* Mentor junior team members.
* Collaborate with the firm on research and development initiatives to stay at the cutting edge of industry knowledge.
* Engage directly with the industry on research and development studies and author industry guidance.
Qualifications
You are likely to have some knowledge and competence in a selection of the following fields:
* Building Regulations Part L
* TM54
* NABERS assessments using IES
* In‑use energy modelling and assessment
* BREEAM, HQM, WELL, Fitwel assessments
* Bespoke sustainability charters
* Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole‑life carbon reports and circular‑economy statements
* Whole‑life carbon assessments using OneClick or other methodologies
* Net‑zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations
Required Skills
To be successful in this role you will need:
* Experience working within the built‑environment sector.
* Experience in a sustainability or engineering consultancy seeking a new challenge at the forefront of the field.
* A degree in an applicable field and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
* A dynamic team‑player attitude within a progressive and well‑respected firm.
* Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.
