Role Overview
This involves helping to validate waiting lists, correct data, training and supporting clinical office staff in respect of patient tracking responsibilities and overall helping patients progress from GP referral to getting their NHS treatment in a timely manner in line with NHS waiting times. The role is computer-based and involves using various sources of electronic data to ensure all of our patients’ journey to treatment happens without delay, and entering data on to our systems as we check and follow our patients to make sure they remain safe at all times. The Maxillofacial and ENT Departments have nearly 10,000 patients on our lists at any one time so it is a busy and exciting role.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage new and follow-up waiting list entries and monitor RTT pathways.
* Validate and monitor the Trust’s performance against the 18‑week Referral to Treatment waiting time standards.
* Act as a local expert on RTT 18‑week guidance, reporting mechanisms and service improvements to improve patient experience and provide high‑quality care.
* Track overdue follow‑up appointments and introduce robust systems to avoid loss to follow‑up.
* Ensure patients receive treatment within required timescales through monitoring and auditing elective patient pathways.
* Oversee RTT 18‑week performance management across specialties within the MES division, providing expertise and support for delivery and achievement of RTT standards.
Qualifications
* A GCSE level or equivalent with A‑C grades in English and Mathematics.
* Administrative medical knowledge gained by education or relevant experience.
* IT qualifications (desirable).
* Degree level qualification (desirable).
Knowledge
* Proficient use of MS Excel to a good standard.
* Knowledge of NHS waiting list targets (desirable).
* Understanding of Trust vision, values, and strategic objectives (desirable).
Experience
* Experience working both as part of a team and independently.
* Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent IT skills.
* Administrative experience within the NHS (desirable).
* Experience with waiting list management & pathways (desirable).
* Experience using NHS information & data systems (desirable).
* Experience using Cerner (desirable).
