Bank Community Health Navigator – Jenner House

Job Summary

As a Bank Community Health Navigator you will act as the first point of contact for patients, the public, healthcare professionals and colleagues. The role is bank based 8:00am–8:00pm, with key shifts for 12:00pm–4:00pm and 4:00pm–8:00pm.


Key Responsibilities

* Act as the first point of contact for service users via telephone, email, and post.
* Assess information, determine urgency, and direct enquiries appropriately.
* Maintain accurate patient records and IT systems, including processing referrals and correspondence.
* Book, cancel, and reschedule clinical appointments, ensuring waiting‑time targets are met.
* Identify and raise urgent or incomplete referrals to appropriate professionals.
* Provide administrative support to clinicians and managers.
* Work flexibly within a supportive team, contributing to service priorities.


Essential Criteria

* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade A/C.
* Previous administrative experience.
* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
* Ability to work with sensitivity, discretion and confidentiality.
* Well‑organised, able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively in a busy environment.
* Able to work well independently and as part of a team.


Desirable Criteria

* NVQ Level 2 in Administration or Customer Services (or equivalent).
* Previous experience in health or social care.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Experience using clinical systems or databases.
