Description
The Special Education Tech III - DD role provides instruction and behavioral support in year-round special purpose programs. Under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher, BCBA/Social Worker, and the Director, the Special Education Tech III - Developmental Disorders is actively involved in providing instructional services and behavioral treatment to meet the academic, behavioral, and daily living needs of students. The focus is on helping children learn new coping strategies and increasing communication and independence.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
1. Education: Minimum of 90 credits of approved study required.
2. License/Certifications: Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education is required. Certification as a School-Based Behavioral Health Professional is preferred and may be provided upon hire.
3. Experience: One year of experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, mental health disorders, or challenging behavior in school, hospital, or residential settings is preferred.
4. Additional Skills/Requirements: DOE fingerprinting.
5. Preferred Skills/Requirements: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students aged 5 and above.
