Reliability Engineer Our Asset Care department is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Reliability Engineer to join our brilliant team in Poole. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for delivering maintenance practises, to enhance equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend asset life by shifting maintenance practices from reactive to predictive and preventive approaches. This role will carry out planned maintenance activities and embed continuous improvement initiatives to optimise the asset care downtime windows. Overhauls, corrective maintenance and other planned work generated from root cause analysis actions will be the key elements of the role, to ensure that PM conformance & a healthy CMMS backlog is maintained. Working Hours, Salary & Location: Shifts: Monday – Friday: 8am – 4:30pm Salary: £46,584 per annum Location: Poole Bakery Principle Accountabilities: As a Reliability Engineer at The Compleat Food Group, you will enhance the performance and reliability of our assets through data-driven maintenance strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for optimising the planned maintenance schedule by leveraging CMMS to track, analyse and improve maintenance activities and equipment performance. Food Safety, Quality and Integrity: The role will ensure maintenance practices meet all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements whilst promoting a safe and reliable working environment through proactive risk mitigation. Health, Safety and Environment: You will lead by example in implementing and enforcing the highest standards of health and safety across all team activities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures, and promoting a safety-first culture. Financial Performance Management: You will assist in managing the team's budget by ensuring efficient use of resources, controlling costs associated with equipment downtime and repairs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining operational performance. Asset Care: You will use CMMS & root cause analysis data to review PPM schedule and align with business needs & asset criticality assessment. You will drive initiatives to improve asset performance and reduce maintenance costs over time. Governance: You will ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices for operational and safety standards. You will report any deviations from standard procedures and implement corrective actions to maintain high levels of performance and accountability. Food Safety, Quality and Integrity Responsibilities: Ensure all equipment is maintained in a condition that meets food safety and quality standards. Ensure that all compliance tasks are stored in the maintenance system with relevant certification for audit purposes Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any food safety concerns or non-compliance issues. Ensure that all equipment is cleaned and sanitised according to the prescribed policies to avoid contamination. Provide feedback and recommend improvements to equipment or processes to enhance food safety and product integrity. Health, Safety and Environment Responsibilities: Enforce and monitor compliance with health and safety protocols for all engineering activities Conduct ongoing safety briefings and risk assessments to maintain continuous team awareness and ensure a safe working environment at all times. Lead by example, demonstrating a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection. Identify potential hazards related to equipment and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Ensure that all required safety equipment (PPE) is worn and that team members follow safe working practices at all times. Financial Performance Management Responsibilities: Ensure all work order costs are captured for lifecycle costing Optimise PPM bill of materials to ensure kitting lists are accurate Track PPM effectiveness to ensure frequencies are optimal & share success stories for cost avoidance Support planning/stores roles in reviewing working capital Track resource & downtime requirements to deliver maintenance activities within asset care windows Identify opportunities for modular maintenance to reduce planned downtime Engage with suppliers for cost saving initiatives on new technologies Asset Care Responsibilities: Participate in annual asset criticality assessment, providing data for evidence where applicable Assist with RCM methodologies to review and improve existing maintenance activities Support breakdown analysis sessions to provide an insight on continuous improvement opportunities Review work order data to ensure that maintenance schedule has accurate downtime, resource & kitting list data Understand & provide data for reliability maintenance KPIs Work with the central reliability function to consolidate PMs/ best practises with similar asset base across the group Implement early equipment management on all equipment purchases Governance Responsibilities: Ensure all engineering activities comply with internal company policies and regulatory requirements. Monitor adherence to safety and operational procedures, reporting any deviations or incidents promptly. Conduct regular audits of maintenance and safety records to ensure compliance with governance standards. Ensure that all corrective actions are taken in response to audits or incidents to rectify non-compliance issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring that processes and practices evolve to meet best practice and governance standards. Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Essential: You will possess considerable experience in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering field. You will have utilised these skills within an FMCG environment, experience within a food manufacturing environment is highly desirable. You will have completed an apprenticeship to a minimum level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering fields. Further training through to HNC/ HND is also desirable. Skills and Competencies: Strong teamwork skills to ensure effective communication in developing standard maintenance procedures Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address equipment issues, safety concerns, or process inefficiencies quickly and effectively. Able to work cross-functionally across departments to ensure that operation & hygiene teams can work in the most effective manner. Focus on driving ongoing improvements in processes & maintenance strategies ensure long-term operational success and adherence to best practices. Strong organisational skills to effectively prioritise tasks, understand schedules, and ensure that maintenance activities and team operations are completed on time, with minimal disruption to production.
