36 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9am-5pm
Position Description:
The client is customer-focused, science-led, and results-driven.
The Food Sciences Product Development team conducts product development, ingredient evaluation, and taste optimization for food, pharmaceutical, and healthcare companies, supporting research and innovation.
The Senior Technician is responsible for carrying out practical work to support project managers in developing new products and resolving formulation, ingredient application, and novel food processing challenges.
The role also involves performing kitchen administration, housekeeping activities, and working in accordance with quality standards and health and safety requirements of the development kitchen.
Responsibilities
Technical
* Organize workload effectively, produce high-quality product samples, and deliver timely and accurate results. Attend review meetings and project updates as required.
* Maintain accurate records of practical work and results for high-quality final reports.
* Operate all kitchen equipment competently.
* Follow product formulations provided by project managers to produce bench-scale samples to a high standard.
* Support pilot plant and scale-up trials as requested by project managers.
* Provide training in routine lab activities and housekeeping duties.
* Work in different laboratories as needed by the business.
Communication & Influence
* Work as part of an efficient development team with good communication skills.
* Adhere to QEHS standards, ensuring safety and quality by understanding and following risk assessments, SOPs, and COSHH.
* Assist with documenting SOPs for new equipment and generating risk assessments and COSHH.
* Complete assigned quality actions promptly.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment, including equipment and stock control.
* Ensure training records are accurate.

* Graduates with a Food Science degree or internships are preferred.
Desirable:
* Practical experience in a development kitchen.
