Plant & Machinery Engineer
Full-time, Permanent
Location: Northampton
Salary: Up to £40k basic DOE + Overtime + Pension
In a nutshell… We are looking for a skilled Service Engineer to join our client's dedicated service and maintenance team. This role is key to keeping plant and equipment operating at the highest standards, maximising uptime, supporting safe operations, and delivering an exceptional experience for our clients' customers.
If you're a hands-on engineer with experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance and a passion for quality service and technical problem-solving, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact.
Responsibilities for the Service Engineer:
1. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all yard-based plant equipment (occasional travel to other yards may be required).
2. Ensure all service activities are documented and comply with ISO and Health & Safety standards.
3. Take ownership of equipment leaving the yard, ensuring it is fit for purpose.
4. Respond to breakdowns both in the yard and on-site, diagnosing and resolving technical issues efficiently.
5. Provide first-line technical support to internal teams and external customers.
6. Maintain yard plant and manage stock control, advising on parts requirements.
7. Support the loading, unloading, and safe storage of tower cranes.
8. Assist with technical training and upskilling of team members.
Requirements:
* Strong background in mechanical or electrical maintenance, ideally with heavy plant or construction equipment.
* Hands-on problem solver with a "right-first-time" mindset.
* Excellent communication skills to support internal and external stakeholders.
* Highly organised, with a focus on quality and safety.
* Ability to work independently in a yard-based environment, with flexibility to attend sites when required.

Hours: Full-time, permanent role. Monday-Friday based on 44 hours per week.
