Job Summary
Wood is recruiting a Process Shift Supervisor to join their team at SAGE on a staff basis. This role is based at SAGE St Fergus and applicants must live a daily commutable distance from the plant. Accommodation is not provided. The role involves shift work & an on‑call rota for weekends.
Responsibilities
* Communications:
o Maintain accurate daily logs and conduct effective handovers
o Maintain effective communication with outside agencies and regulatory authorities
o Effectively communicate with all SAGE departments and other Shift Teams
* Procedural:
o Ensures compliance with SAGE/WOOD procedures, policies, work practices and regulatory requirements
o Authorise all designated permits to work as required per ISSOW procedure SF-P-G-99-MP-005/001
o Ensure planned activities follow company policies and procedures and contribute to their review and improvement
o Is familiar with and ensures compliance with the PPC consent
* Training:
o Undertakes training as offered by the Company to expand his or her area of competency
o Motivates and actively encourages work group commitment in all aspects of production and company operations
o Assists in the training and mentoring of new Lead Operators and Process Operator trainees
o Conducts technical competency assessments in compliance with the SAGE training policies
* Process Operations:
o Supervises control room duties including pipeline system monitoring, platform and downstream customer communications, continuous monitoring of DCS and ESD process parameters
o Supervises the operation of all process systems, units and field equipment
o Supervises and advises Control Room Operators
o Oversees/plans operational planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and surveillance activities
o Supervises Process Operators and ensures the quality and effectiveness of all planned and unplanned production tasks
o Co‑ordinates the efforts of assigned service contract personnel with respect to safe operations, competency and quality
o Ensures the highest standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout the plant
o Complies with the Integrated Safe System of Work (ISSOW) procedure
o Ensures personnel are competent to perform assigned work activities and are trained in line with company and regulatory requirements
o Ensures compliance with the SAGE Safe Isolation and Reinstatement of Plant (SIRP) procedure
o Undertakes radiological training and assumes responsibility for onsite radiological activities
o Has relevant competency in accordance with SAGE Electrical Authorisation Procedure
* Supplementary Responsibilities:
o Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by line management within the specified timeframe, reasonable and competent to fulfil
o Deputises for the Process Superintendent
o Assumes the role of On‑Scene Commander in any emergency situations, actively participating in regular training exercises
o Undertakes project assignments as required, including annual turnarounds
o Assesses workplace performance and conducts evidence‑based assessment, Competency Assurance and SAGE Competency Modules
o Liaises with Projects Group and carries out document reviews where required
o Deals with some HR issues and conducts Technician Appraisals
* Core Safety, Health and Environment Responsibilities:
o Assists in ensuring the integrity of the installation ISSOW System
o Ensures all activities comply with applicable Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, protecting personnel and the environment from unacceptable risk
o Adheres to relevant SAGE/WOOD BMS systems and procedures, contributing to their review and improvement
o Participates in plant safety inspections, emergency exercises and incident investigations
o Participates in Hazard Identification, formal and informal, as required
o Trained and competent to Level 2 risk assessment standard
o Demonstrates a personal commitment to Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)
o Manages routine shift safety meetings and communication sessions
o Applies Wood/SAGE Safety, Health & Environment Policies
o Supports departmental HSSE responsibilities through participation and compliance with plant procedures and HSSE initiatives
* Additional Relevant Information About the Job:
o Out of hours support for operational personnel cover
o Inclement weather conditions
o Overtime as required
o Shift work
Qualifications
* Minimum Qualifications:
o Technical training to at least HNC/HND level or equivalent qualification
o N/SVQ Workplace Assessor
o Completed recognised SAGE competency training levels 1-3
* Minimum Experience:
o Extensive practical knowledge of process/systems plant and equipment relevant to the industry sector in own discipline area
o Experienced technician, perhaps with some lead technician experience within an on/offshore production operation environment

* Skills/Knowledge/Competencies:
o Relevant competency in accordance with SAGE Electrical Authorisation Procedure
o Comprehensive knowledge of the SAGE ISSOW system and associated processes
o Comprehensive knowledge of the SAGE SIRP Procedure
o Understanding of maintenance management systems (Maximo)
o IT support systems used within the Company relevant to the scope of the position
o Hazardous area classifications
o Comprehensive knowledge of hazards associated with high‑pressure hydrocarbon systems
o Interpretation of Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID's)
* Personal Qualities:
o Organised and methodical in approach to work
o Maintains high personal integrity when dealing with all aspects of company business
