SCADA Engineer – Contract (Inside IR35) – Warrington – Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) Initial 12‑month contract, long-term pipeline expected
Are you a SCADA Engineer who enjoys taking full ownership of design, development and testing – and wants to support a major TR&S programme within a regulated engineering environment? This is an opportunity to join a long-running framework delivering high-quality control systems work, with a steady pipeline of future projects.
You’ll join an integrated engineering team and play a key role in designing and implementing SCADA and HMI systems, producing high‑quality documentation, and supporting rigorous testing activities. If you’re confident in FactoryTalk View and enjoy the mix of design, coding, testing and collaboration, this will suit you perfectly.
What you’ll be doing
Designing, developing and implementing HMI/SCADA applications (Rockwell FactoryTalk View preferred)
Producing detailed engineering documentation: URS/RTM, FDS/SDD, SSS, test specs, O&M manuals, rebuild documentation, schedules and lifetime records
Creating standardised SCADA modules, faceplates, objects and mimic screens
Working closely with PLC engineers to develop integrated, cyber‑secure control system architectures
Supporting formal testing activities, including in‑house testing and potentially SAT/commissioning
Contributing to installation & commissioning documentation, training materials and quality records
Interpreting design drawings, understanding constraints, and collaborating across engineering disciplines
Supporting the Project Manager and Technical Lead with schedules, reporting and scope changeWhat you’ll need Essential:
Strong SCADA/HMI design and implementation experience (FactoryTalk View ideal)
Knowledge of ergonomic GUI design and human factors
Proficiency in SCADA programming and scripting (C++, VBScript, Python etc.)
Experience with databases/historian systems and SQL
Significant SCADA experience in EC&I environments (nuclear preferred)
Strong documentation skills and meticulous attention to detail
Knowledge of industrial comms, PC/server hardware, networks and OT systems
Experience with controlled testing, validation and systems troubleshooting
Able to work independently or as part of an integrated delivery team
Strong communication and interpersonal skillsDesirable:
Experience in nuclear, MOD or pharmaceutical
Understanding of Sellafield standards and the V‑Model
Exposure to cyber‑secure control system design
Experience with virtual machines, RDP and distributed architecturesQualification:
