Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated and skilled individual who will complement our talking therapies service and work alongside the lower intensity clinical leads. The post holder will be able to provide clinical skills and case managerial supervisions to the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and trainees. They will also need to have good knowledge and understanding of the lower intensity psychological interventions and hold the psychological Wellbeing practitioner qualification.
You will be expected to work within the leadership team, triage and assess suitability for the psychological treatments within the service. You will also be expected to deliver lower intensity psychological evidence-based treatments for depression and anxiety disorders. Our modalities of treatments include digital therapy using Silvercloud & short psychological disorder specific courses and one to one guided self help via face to face, digital & telephone.
Full-time - 37.5 hours per week with a blended delivery of working in the office and remote working from a confidential space. There will need to be some flexibility to suit the needs of the service. This post covers the area of Malvern, Evesham and Pershore & there will be times that you will be required to work from Waterside (Evesham).
This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for specific purpose that we anticipate will be required for 12 months. We reserve the right to end this contract sooner with appropriate notice.
Main duties of the job
Senior PWP will support the PWPs and Trainees to learn and develop their skills around screening patients suitability for the service and treating patients using step 2 interventions based on the principles of CBT for mild to moderate depression and anxiety disorders. Intervention will be delivered via a combination of telephone, digital, psychoeducational courses and one-to-one.
Senior PWP will offer weekly case managerial supervision and clinical skills group supervision two hours a month. This will be for all the PWPs in the locality you are based within. You will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring the Trainee PWPs throughout their university course. As a Senior PWP you will be responsible to work alongside the lower intensity clinical lead within the locality and wider service and other Senior PWPs and the leadership team. As part of your role you will also be supporting the team with treatment allocations and meeting clinical activity development work and lots more exciting tasks.

NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Talking Therapies is a dynamic talking therapies service that strives for balance between meeting locally commissioned targets, clinical effectiveness, and patient‑centred care.
The Senior PWP role is designed for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who would like to progress into supervising and leadership. You will need experience of working as a Psychological Wellbeing practitioner in a talking therapy service with adults with mental health problems or difficulties. Holding supervisory qualification is essential.
Your focus will be on providing excellent patient care and treatment supported of cutting‑edge Low Intensity Psychological Interventions within primary care mental health. You will support the delivery of training, education and close partnership working, maintaining effective communications with both internal and external partners.
You will be required to hold PWP registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS) or The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Qualifications
* Qualification in Post Graduate low intensity psychological interventions (PWP adult training) or equivalent
* Qualification in supervision of PWPs (PWP adult training)
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
* Evidence of further training in psychological interventions and therapy
Knowledge
* Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care
* Demonstrates knowledge of the issues surrounding employment and the impact it can have on mental health/benefits and employment systems
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post and an understanding of the stepped care model
* Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding issues and relevant legislation
* Knowledge of mental health disorders that present in both primary care and secondary care
* Knowledge of current mental health NHS policies/ procedures/ legislation/ guidelines/practices/trends/ developments
* Knowledge of how mental health services can contribute to individuals recovery
* Knowledge of diversity and equality issues
* Knowledge of supervision models used for step 2
* Knowledge of outcome measures and their use for clinical and audit purposes
* Knowledge and understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working in primary care mental health services
* Demonstrable experience of working in a CBT service for clients with mild to moderate mental health problems
* Previously worked in a service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating clinical outcomes
* Evidence of working with patients who have experienced anxiety and depression within a primary care setting
* Significant experience (2 years or more) of successfully treating a range of presenting problems with low intensity psychological interventions (e.g., depression, panic, GAD, sleep, specific phobias)
* Significant experience in screening and assessing clients for Talking Therapies service
* Experience in delivery of psychoeducational short courses, digital therapy, telephone guided self‑help, one to one therapy, and signposting to third party agencies and other community services
* Experience of accurate and detailed assessment and management of risk, through telephone and face to face communications
* Demonstrates high standards in written and verbal communication
* Experience of delivery of Talking Therapies step 2 supervision to others
* Experience of managing a caseload of high‑volume patients
* Experience of working with risk and managing this
* Experience of partnership and multidisciplinary working
* Experience of working in Primary Care Services
