We’re looking for a Volunteer & Mentor Coordinator to recruit, train and support volunteers and mentors across our community recovery services. You’ll make sure volunteers have a rewarding experience, develop skills and progress into education, training and employment opportunities, helping people with lived experience in Gloucestershire access the right support and pathways to grow and develop through education, training and employment opportunities. Hours : 35 hours per week (Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00), with flexibility to work outside normal hours when required Holiday : 25 days per year plus statutory Pension : Auto-enrolment pension (6% employer contribution) Key responsibilities: Recruit, coordinate, train and supervise volunteers and mentors, ensuring they feel supported, valued and motivated. Assess individual needs and match volunteers to suitable internal and external placements. Develop progression pathways and opportunities that reflect volunteers’ needs and aspirations. Deliver inductions and organise training (and refreshers) as required. Support and supervise recovery coaches and peer mentors alongside community connectors. Maintain accurate records (training, supervision, appraisals) in line with GDPR/data protection. Build effective partnerships with relevant agencies to strengthen volunteering opportunities. Manage budgets and resources, including volunteer expense reimbursements. Gather feedback (e.g., volunteer satisfaction surveys) and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Identify and manage risks and follow health & safety, safeguarding and organisational policies. What we’re looking for: Experience recruiting, organising and supervising volunteers and volunteer activity. Strong communication and relationship-building skills; able to work with a range of personalities and confidence levels. Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to identify training needs and handle performance/people issues sensitively and professionally. Understanding of why people volunteer and the support they need to succeed. Good IT skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel) and confident administration skills. Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and an understanding of confidentiality and data protection. Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries. Essential: Car driver with full access to a roadworthy vehicle and willingness to travel across multiple sites in Gloucestershire. This role is subject to safer recruitment checks. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
