Employment type: Permanent Salary: £40,000 - £52,000 Standard Hours: Flexible start / 40 hours per week Location: Bembridge, Isle of Wight The Design Liaison Engineer acts as the primary technical and regulatory interface between a UK Part-21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) and a UK Part-21G Production Organisation Approval (POA). The role ensures effective coordination of design data, production feedback, conformity, and compliance activities in accordance with UK CAA regulations, enabling safe, compliant, and efficient product realisation. Key Responsibilities Design Interface Serve as the focal point for communication between the design authority (Part-21J DOA) and the manufacturing organisation (Part-21G POA). Interpret and communicate engineering drawings, specifications, and approved data to production, quality, and supply chain teams. Raise and manage Design Queries and Concession/Deviation requests in accordance with Part 21 procedures. Support the preparation and review of Modification and Repair documentation to ensure the production and supply chain teams understanding of the new design changes Production Support Provide technical support during manufacture, assembly, and test activities. Support the creation and resolution for design queries (DQF’s) from the POA to the DOA Participate in MRB where design input is required. Provide on-the-floor technical guidance to production staff on matters of drawing interpretation, build standards, and materials. Investigate and disposition manufacturing Non-Conformances (NCs), producing engineering dispositions and coordinating concession requests where required. Support the introduction of new manufacturing processes, tooling, and techniques, assessing design implications and obtaining appropriate approvals. Liaise with the procurement and supply chain functions to ensure purchased parts and materials meet approved design requirements. Configuration & Change Management Coordinate design changes, Design Quires, concessions, deviations, and repairs between DOA and POA. Ensure production impacts are assessed and appropriately approved by the DOA prior to implementation. Support configuration control and alignment between design and production baselines. Regulatory & Compliance Activities Ensure compliance with UK Part-21 requirements, including Subparts J and G. Support conformity activities, first article inspections, and certification deliverables. Assist with compliance demonstrations, including substantiation data relevant to production. Continuous Improvement Support the improvement of DOA–POA processes, communication routes, and working practices. Contribute to lessons learned and feedback loops from production to design. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Familiarity with UK CAA processes and oversight expectations. Demonstrable experience working within a UK/EASA Part-21J and/or Part-21G environment. Strong understanding of the design-to-production interface and airworthiness requirement. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and certification data. Experience with configuration management, design change processes and production support.
