Independent Reviewing Officer and Conference Chair
Staffordshire County Council is seeking an experienced and committed Independent Chair / Independent Reviewing Officer to join their Safeguarding and Review Service.
The successful candidate will strengthen the existing team of Independent Reviewing Officers and Conference Chairs by ensuring that plans for children fully reflect each child's needs, and that all planning processes meet regulatory requirements and maintain a focus on achieving best outcomes for the child.
The main responsibilities will include:
* Chairing child protection conferences and statutory reviews to ensure that plans are child-focused, robust, and achievable
* Challenging if plans are not progressing or meeting a child’s needs, and highlighting and promoting best practice and outcomes for children
* Working with the Service Leads in the development of best practice and monitoring of quality standards
The ideal candidate will have a professional Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have significant post-qualifying experience. They will also have experience of team management within social work, sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and statutory guidance, and an unrelenting focus on achieving great outcomes for children and young people.
