Azenta Life Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dedicated team of engineers, contributing to project-specific design and product configuration work in response to a strong increase in customer contracts. This includes assembly & detail component design, generation of BOMs, and design substantiation (e.g., calculations) while working with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements & timescales.
What You'll Be Doing
* Design assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components using SolidWorks 3D CAD systems.
* Ensure designs are robust through techniques such as FMEA, design review, DFM, & DFS.
* Drive repeatability and standardization in projects by utilizing existing equipment and sub-systems.
* Translate requirements into design solutions based on specifications from customers or lead engineers.
* Identify, analyze, and resolve project difficulties proactively.
* Collaborate with Electrical Design, Refrigeration, and Systems Engineering teams.
* Apply standard operations to the design process and contribute to developing company practices.
* Stay updated on technical advances in the field.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications:
* Degree or HNC in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
Technical Skills:
* Proven expertise in mechanical design, especially in automation systems with motors, gearboxes, bearings, etc.
* Ability to create detailed component designs with proper dimensioning and tolerancing.
* Experience designing complex assemblies and generating BOMs.
* Experience documenting design calculations.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD.
* Experience with PLM systems like Agile PLM.
