We currently have an opportunity for a Process Leader to lead a small Chemical Manufacturing Team, specialising in Distillation and Blending, through an anticipated period of change.
New Chemical Manufacturing Facilities are planned at the Loughborough Site and you will join us on the exciting journey of transitioning across the chemical processes, whilst maintaining normal production.
Ideally, the candidate will have several years of industrial experience in a chemical manufacturing company. We are looking for a self-motivated and energetic, enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to work. This role combines People Management with Technical Skills and requires a proactive hands-on approach.
What will you do?
1. Lead and develop a small team of Manufacturing Operators, working in batch chemical manufacturing (10-4000L scale)
2. Work in partnership with the other Manufacturing Process Leaders, dividing tasks as appropriate
3. Ensure safe operation of the chemical facilities through the systematic use and upkeep of standard operating procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, batch process instructions and the change management process
4. Drive Continuous Improvement within the area, with emphasis on Visual Management, 5S and LEAN initiatives. Implement standards, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve safety, quality and operational performance
5. Work closely with QA, QC, Chemical Development and Engineering leveraging your problem-solving skills and technical expertise to introduce new processes, new products and solve quality and process issues
6. Responsible for organising scheduled batch production to meet delivery date commitments
7. Own and report team KPI metrics, interrogate data to anticipate and react to performance trends and process variations
8. Be a conduit for communication to and from your team - verbal, written and via digital communication platforms

How will you get here?
Education/Competence
10. Relevant chemistry/ chemical engineering/ manufacturing degree is preferred
11. Minimum 5 GCSE grades > =5 including Mathematics, English and a Science
12. A’Level in Science subject or equivalent, advantageous
13. Extensive plant level experience with significant proven supervisory experience
14. Technical understanding
15. Understanding of Kaizen, lean manufacturing, 5S
16. Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, applicable to Manufacturing
17. Proficient command of spoken and written English, including the ability to write and compile technical document
