Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced installation specialist who can bring structure, training, and genuine quality control to a large and growing team. This is a quality and standards role within our SHEQ function, reporting to the Head of SHEQ. You will be the authority on how installations are carried out – not the fibre itself, but everything around it: containment, tray work, cable management, penetrations, working in complex or heritage buildings, and the finish and presentation of the work. You will build that standard, embed it, and hold the team to it. This is a "muddy boots" role; you will be on site regularly, problem‑solving, training, and signing off work, and engaging confidently with building managers and landlords when method, safety or building fabric questions arise.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and maintain installation quality standards covering all elements of physical installation: containment, tray work, trunking, conduit, cable routing, fire stopping, penetrations and general site presentation.
* Sign off completed installations against those standards and clearly identify any remedial work required before sign‑off is granted.
* Serve as the first point of contact for installation teams when they encounter unusual or complex situations on site – old buildings, restricted access, heritage constraints, awkward routes.
* Go to site for complex or non‑standard installs to provide direct support and problem‑solving.
* Build a structured training and competency framework for the installation team, and deliver or coordinate hands‑on training.
* Represent Vorboss professionally to building managers, landlords and facilities teams, especially where installation work raises questions about method, safety or building fabric.
* Work closely with the Head of SHEQ to ensure installation practices align with CDM regulations, relevant codes of practice and Vorboss health and safety standards.
* Feed quality and competency insights back into operational planning, highlighting where team development or process changes are needed; manage, implement, monitor and control the quality of Vorboss fibre installations.
The Right Candidate
* A trade or construction background with strong practical knowledge of building installation work – electrician, M&E engineer, building services engineer or similar; fibre experience is welcome but not required.
* Direct experience of containment and cable management work: tray, trunking, conduit, raised floors, risers and service penetrations.
* Experience working in occupied commercial buildings, including older or heritage stock where working methods need to be adapted.
* Able to have a straightforward, professional conversation with a building manager or landlord when needed – this is not a client‑facing role.
* A genuine commitment to quality, with the patience and communication skills to bring a large team along – this is about training and culture, not just inspection.
* Familiar with CDM and relevant codes of practice; experience with BS EN 50174 or similar standards is useful but not essential.
* Some experience in a quality, supervisory or training role, either formally or informally.
Benefits
* Employee Share Plan
* Company pension scheme
* Bonus scheme
* 25 days of annual leave allowance that increases with years served (excluding bank holidays)
* Private healthcare
* Life assurance
* Income protection
* Access to Spill, our mental health support partner
* Cycle to work scheme
* Half‑price gym memberships through the healthcare provider
* Free eye test
* Travel loan
* Hastee app, to help manage your salary and finances
