Assistant Practice Manager (two vacancies)
Guildhall Chambers in Bristol is recruiting two Assistant Practice Managers (one junior, one senior) to support our Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence (PI/CN) and Court of Protection (COP) barristers.
As part of the Practice Management team, you will manage the administrative aspects of barristers’ cases, coordinate with solicitors, handle diary management, fee arrangements, and assist in business‑development activities. You will also play a key role in developing each barrister’s practice throughout their career.
Senior APM (minimum four years’ clerking experience in PI/CN casework)
* Salary: £30,000–£35,000 (dependent on experience)
* Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week (08:30–18:00, Monday to Friday)
Junior APM (no prior clerking required, beneficial experience in chambers, law firm, court system, or paralegal work)
* Salary: £25,000–£29,000 (dependent on experience)
* Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week (08:30–18:00, Monday to Friday)
Both roles are permanent, full‑time positions with 25 days’ paid holiday plus public holidays, a pension scheme and a bonus scheme. Potential to work from home up to two days per week after successful completion of probation.
Requirements
* British or Irish citizenship or right to work in the UK.
* At least five GCSEs (including Maths and English) at grades 9–4 (A*–C) or equivalent, and two A Levels (or equivalent).
* Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (native speaker or CEFR Level C2).
* Basic MS Word and Outlook proficiency.
