Overview
Co-ordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including delivery of high quality teaching, responsibility for day to day operational issues, exams and timetabling, ensuring a consistent approach is maintained across sites if required. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching and learning that stretches and challenges students to be the best they can be.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high quality teaching in accordance with approved College standards and applicable validating/moderating bodies, preparing teaching materials, schemes of work and lesson plans, developing and implementing the revised curriculum, undertaking quality assurance in collaboration with the Head of Department, assessing students’ written and practical work, monitoring and reporting on their progress including writing regular reviews of students’ Individual Learning Plans, recording, reporting and dissemination of assessment grades and students’ results in liaison with parents, carers and professional agencies as appropriate. Maintain good order in the teaching environment with safeguarding, equal opportunities and health and safety considerations.
* Undertake day to day course management duties including communication, problem solving, diagnostic compliance, timetable checks and amendments, arrange/provide cover for lessons as needed, plan and co-ordinate work experience and enrichment activities, coordinate internal verification scheduling, liaise with relevant departments (e.g., Exams, MIS, ALS) and complete related administration, ensuring cross-site compliance and consistency.
* Assist with recruitment and selection for courses, manage enrolment procedures, including Qualifications on Entry, transfers and late enrolments; ensure students are registered on the correct course at the right level; assist with induction programmes for students.
* Undertake regular meetings with students, including one-to-one meetings to set and review SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, support pastoral needs, and liaise with cross-college services. The frequency of meetings will be determined by the Head of Department.
* Monitor student attendance and outcomes, including start of year registers, exam entries and attendance; coordinate and administer course performance monitoring and report on attendance, retention, achievement and success with action plans where required.
* Promote and support English and Maths provision, both in class and one-to-one, including monitoring attendance and progression of students to English and Maths lessons.
* Attend meetings (staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events) and report back; plan and coordinate parent evenings/consultations as directed.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop courses, training methods and materials; participate in Focus Days and compulsory CPD; engage in peer observation for development and mentor new lecturers as required.
* Assist with departmental administration including timely marking of registers, updating Pro-Monitor, producing reports on attendance, retention and achievement, and publishing materials on the College’s VLE.
* Participate in college meetings/groups/committees and quality assurance mechanisms (verification, moderation, course reviews, SAR); for SPS points 5–8, undertake Internal Verification/Moderation/Standardisation for agreed curriculum/courses, coordinate SAR action plans and quality review weeks, assist with resource coordination and daily staffing levels, and support the Head/Deputy Head of Department with curriculum and quality issues; monitor timely completion of UCAS references; liaise with Higher Education Institutions as required.
