A supportive primary school in Walsall is seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This role is focused on providing consistent, individualised support to a pupil with special educational needs. You'll be a key part of their day-to-day experience—helping them to feel safe, included, and supported both in and out of the classroom. What you’ll be doing: •Offering 1:1 support tailored to the specific needs of a child with SEND •Following the pupil’s EHCP and Individual Education Plan (IEP) •Supporting academic, social, and emotional development throughout the day •Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals •Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment What we’re looking for: •Previous school-based experience is essential •Proven experience supporting children with SEND, ideally on a 1:1 basis •A calm, patient, and positive approach to behaviour and learning support •Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team •A valid DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) This is a long-term role, offering stability and the chance to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child who will benefit greatly from consistent support.
