Lexica is a leading specialist consultancy transforming environments for clients in health and life sciences. From June 2025 Lexica is a member of WSP (UK) Ltd and will be fully integrated into the organisation by Jan 2026.
Role Overview
As Senior Consultant, Healthcare Strategy and Planning (HS+P) you will join an established post within the Lexica Healthcare Strategy & Planning team. In partnership with the Director and senior colleagues you will help achieve the overall business plan to grow and develop strategic healthcare planning as a leading‑edge offering to external clients, including NHS organisations and private sector clients in the UK and overseas.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead delivery and performance of healthcare strategy and planning advisory services of varying breadth and scope.
* Manage projects, lead teams or work collaboratively on major commissions.
* Contribute to annual new business development targets, preparing tender responses and delivering presentations for new opportunities.
* Support the development of a portfolio of consultancy clients.
* Perform technical inputs such as strategic analysis, demand and capacity modelling, models of care, clinical and functional briefing, schedules of accommodation and design reviews.
* Engage with clinical stakeholders, facilitating sessions and managing engagement programmes.
* Produce high‑quality written outputs – reports, briefs and business case contributions; peer‑review colleague texts for accuracy and quality.
* Employ data analytics to assess health service needs and demands at various levels and scales.
* Explore client needs, develop solutions and assess options; participate in service model development and quality assurance.
* Collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams, manage workloads and develop processes to ensure quality‑assured service delivery.
* Monitor personal and team project inputs, ensuring delivery within budgets and timelines.
* Contribute to new business development and bid/tender preparation.
* Interact with board‑level and operational staff internally and in client organisations, demonstrating political astuteness and client relationship management skills.
Required Qualifications & Attributes
* Extensive knowledge of health services or health facilities, gained through clinical practice or experience with health providers.
* Agility in delivering a wide range of projects related to clinical and operational strategy development.
* Strong interpersonal skills; act as client relationship manager and account manager for existing and new clients.
* Facilitation skills for leading stakeholder engagement sessions.
* Excellent writing skills for reports, briefs and business cases.
* Data analytics skills for modelling health service needs.
* Creative, solutions‑focused mindset; ability to investigate client needs and develop tailored solutions.
* Natural curiosity and rigorous evidence review; stay abreast of trends and research in healthcare planning.
* Openness to global practice, embracing local cultures and sharing best practice observations.
* Collaboration spirit; foster multidisciplinary teamwork and support colleagues’ workload management.
* Organisational skills in managing project inputs and team delivery.
* Experience in new business development, bid and tender preparation.
* Alignment with the Health and Life Sciences Advisory business target.
